The University of Houston softball team will host its last Big 12 home series of the season against Arizona State from April 17 to April 19, according to an announcement on Apr. 16. The three-game set will take place at Cougar Softball Stadium in Houston, with game times scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at noon.

This matchup marks the first time the two programs meet as conference opponents. Arizona State enters the series with a record of 32-13 overall and a conference mark of 5-10. In their all-time meetings, Houston has yet to defeat Arizona State, trailing the series 0-3.

Pregame Senior Day ceremonies are planned to honor four Cougars players: Mandy Esman, Paris Lehman, Kylei Griffin, and Gabby Rawls. The team has hit a total of 64 home runs this season—the third most in program history—and is close to matching its second-best mark set in 2011.

Several individual performances have stood out for Houston this year. Sophomore Maddie Hartley and junior Makenna Mitchell have each surpassed fifteen home runs this season—a first for any duo in program history—with Hartley currently ranking second all-time for single-season homers at Houston. Mitchell also ranks high on the school’s doubles list and both players are nearing fifty RBIs each for the year.

On defense and pitching, sophomore Isabel Cintron leads the Big 12 Conference in sacrifice bunts while pitcher Nevaeh Brown is one win away from reaching double digits this season. Brown also holds notable rankings among Big 12 pitchers for strikeouts and innings pitched.

Fans attending games must follow a clear bag policy implemented by Houston Athletics across all venues including Cougar Softball Stadium. Updates about games can be found on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram under @UHCougarSB.
