The University of Houston softball team lost game two of its final Big 12 regular season weekend series, 8-0, against #20 Arizona at Hillenbrand Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 25.

The matchup saw the Cougars (20-30, 3-20 Big 12) record three hits from sophomores Ariel Redmond and Madox Mitchael and junior Makenna Mitchell. The Wildcats (33-13, 14-6 Big 12) secured an early lead with two runs in the first inning and added three more in both the third and fourth innings. The game concluded after five innings due to run-rule conditions.

Redmond extended her hitting streak to five games with a single to left field in the fourth inning. Mitchell achieved her 90th hit as a Houston Cougar, bringing her career total to 93 as she approaches the century mark. Mitchael marked her 50th appearance for Houston with a single in the fifth inning. Freshman Leilani Garcia also contributed by turning her fifth double play of the season.

The Cougars will finish their series against Arizona and close out their regular season on Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
