The University of Houston Football program announced on Apr. 10 two schedule changes for the upcoming 2026 season, including plans to play two Friday night games.

These updates are part of the coordination with the Big 12 Conference and network partners. The first Friday game will see Houston travel to face Texas Tech, the reigning Big 12 Champion, in Lubbock on Sept. 18. The second Friday matchup is set for Nov. 13 when Houston visits Colorado in Boulder. This marks the second consecutive year that Houston and Colorado will meet on a Friday, following their previous Big 12 opener at TDECU Stadium in 2025.

With these additions, Houston will play multiple weekday games for a third straight season as they begin Year Three under Head Coach Willie Fritz against Oregon State on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Kickoff times and broadcast details have not yet been announced.

The Cougars have a strong record in recent Friday night contests, going 10-3 since 2021 and winning all three such matchups during the previous season against Colorado at home as well as Oregon State and UCF on the road.
