Houston baseball falls to Baylor 6-2 in series opener at Schroeder Park

Houston Baseball lost 6-2 to Baylor in the first game of their weekend series at Schroeder Park on March 27. Junior pitcher Connor Udland started for Houston, pitching over four innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out three batters.

The result puts Houston’s record at 13 wins and 12 losses overall, with a conference record of one win and six losses in the Big 12. Baylor improved to a record of 14-11 overall and three wins and four losses in conference play.

Senior Tyler Bryan came out of the bullpen for Houston, recording five strikeouts over just over two innings. Bryan faced several challenging situations as Baylor extended its lead during the middle part of the game. Senior Harrison Boushele also contributed on the mound with more than two hitless shutout innings, striking out four.

Offensively, freshman Blake Fields drove in a run for Houston with a base hit, while sophomore Jackson LaLima hit his sixth home run of the season. For Baylor, first baseman Tyce Armstrong had a notable performance with two home runs as part of his team’s offensive effort.

The teams are scheduled to continue their series on Saturday afternoon at Schroeder Park.
