The Houston baseball team lost to Baylor 10-3 on Saturday, Mar. 28, at Schroeder Park after taking an early three-run lead in the first inning.
The loss leaves Houston with a record of 13-13 overall and 1-7 in Big 12 play. The game began with right fielder Xavier Perez hitting his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot that put Houston ahead. Catcher Riley Jackson followed by driving in designated hitter Easton Winfield, extending the Cougars’ lead to three runs.
Baylor responded by scoring ten unanswered runs, including six in the third inning, ultimately securing their win and improving their own record to 15-11 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Senior Ryne Rodriguez pitched five innings of relief for Houston and recorded five strikeouts.
The Cougars will attempt to avoid a series sweep when they face Baylor again on Sunday at Schroeder Park. The final game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
