Four members of the University of Houston Swimming & Diving team were named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team, according to an announcement on Apr. 7.

The recognition highlights academic and athletic achievements among collegiate athletes. This year marks the fourth consecutive season that four Houston student-athletes have been honored, bringing the program’s all-time total to 18 selections.

Juniors Michelle McLeod and Evelyn Entrekin received their second consecutive selection. McLeod, an economics major, competed in all three diving events at the NCAA championships and was awarded All-Big 12 Conference First Team honors on platform after finishing first. She also earned Second Team honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events by placing fifth and sixth respectively at the Big 12 Conference Championships in February. McLeod was recognized as Big 12 “Diver of the Meet” for her performance at conference.

Entrekin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in December and is a three-time All-Big 12 selection this season in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 200 individual medley. She moved up to fourth place on Houston’s top-10 list for the 200 individual medley and fifth for the 200 breaststroke.

Senior Noor El Gendy earned her first Academic All-District honor while graduating with a degree in political science. El Gendy received First Team honors for her performance in the 200 butterfly and Second Team honors for the 100 butterfly; she holds program records for both events.

Sophomore Caroline Roelen, a business major, also received her first honor after scoring two Second Team distinctions by finishing seventh in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at conference.

This continued recognition reflects ongoing academic commitment within Houston’s swimming & diving program.
