During an inspection conducted on August 21, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration cited Mexilink, Inc. in Houston for four violations related to foodborne biological hazards, according to data posted on the FDA’s website.
The FDA website indicates that the citations were delivered to the company as follows:
- ‘Your hazard analysis did not identify a hazard that requires a control.’
- ‘You did not establish adequate written procedures for ensuring that appropriate foreign supplier verification activities are conducted with respect to a food you import.’
- ‘You did not document your investigation to determine whether your FSVP is adequate when you determined that a foreign supplier of food that you import does not produce food in compliance with the required processes and procedures.’
- ‘You did not provide an English translation of an FSVP record that you maintained in a language other than English.’
The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.
According to its website, the FDA is a government agency that is primarily responsible for monitoring the production and distribution of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies and tobacco products for safety and quality.
