Divna Ratkovic, a junior on the Rice Owls women’s tennis team, was named the American Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to an announcement made by the league on April 7.

This recognition marks Ratkovic’s second weekly honor of the season. The award comes after she played a key role in leading her team to victories over South Florida and Florida International University (FIU), both with scores of 4-1.

In doubles play, Ratkovic partnered with Daniela Chica. The pair remained undefeated over the weekend, winning their matches against South Florida and FIU with identical scores of 6-3. In singles competition, Ratkovic defeated FIU’s Vittoria Baccino in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) and overcame South Florida’s Sienna Leeson in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-1).

The Rice Owls are scheduled to close out their regular season against UAB on Monday, April 13. Following that match, they will participate in the American Athletic Conference Championship later that week.

Ratkovic’s continued strong performance highlights her importance to the team as they prepare for postseason competition.
