U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw used his social media platform on October 1, 2025, to criticize Democratic lawmakers regarding a temporary government funding bill and their broader policy agenda.

In a post published at 00:50 UTC, Crenshaw addressed Senator Bernie Sanders directly, stating, “Let me fix it for you Bernie:

Democrats are shutting it down, voting against a CLEAN temporary funding bill with zero strings attached, and you’re whining about unrelated policy issues that, ironically, are characterized by government authoritarianism over healthcare.

There’s https://t.co/8jFfHffCq8“.

Shortly after, at 01:17 UTC the same day, Crenshaw followed up with another message directed at Sanders: “Yeah okay Senator here’s the thing: YOU JUST VOTED AGAINST A CLEAN FUNDING BILL THAT KEEPS FUNDING ALIVE FOR SAFETY NET HOSPITALS, among many many other things.

Sit down and shut up. We aren’t letting you people spin this. https://t.co/HaZ3kYFaCd“.

At 01:28 UTC on October 1st, Crenshaw expanded his criticism of Democrats’ recent legislative actions: “This year, Democrats are in favor of two major policy proposals:

1. Increase your taxes (that’s what we stopped with the Working Families Tax Cut)

2. And now shutting the government

These people have no business governing. Remember this in a year, when the midterms come.”

Crenshaw represents Texas’s second congressional district and has maintained strong electoral support since first winning office in 2018. In the most recent general election held in 2024, he defeated Peter Filler with nearly two-thirds of the vote share (65.7%) to retain his seat [source]. He previously won re-election against Robin Fulford in 2022 and Sima Ladjevardian in 2020 by similarly wide margins.

The posts reflect ongoing partisan disputes over federal spending bills and highlight how debates over healthcare policy and tax measures remain central issues as Congress approaches upcoming midterm elections.
