Representative Dan Crenshaw, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, posted several statements on his social media account between September 30 and October 1, 2025, addressing topics ranging from cultural commentary to federal policy debates.

On September 30, Crenshaw commented on a public exchange involving author J.K. Rowling and former child actors from the Harry Potter franchise. He wrote: “Worth reading another epic – and yet customarily polite – takedown of spoiled little child actors by J.K. Rowling. As it becomes less and less popular to support trans radicalism, the spoiled brats that were made famous by Rowling’s hard work are going to quickly find https://t.co/31cD853dMy”.

Later that day, as legislative negotiations continued in Congress over government funding, Crenshaw addressed the issue of federal flood insurance during hurricane season. In a post dated October 1, he stated: “In the midst of hurricane season the Democrats are voting to SHUT DOWN the federal flood insurance program. The renewal of the Federal Flood Insurance program was in the CR. We made sure it was because we know how important it is. Democrats are acting recklessly. And for what?”

Shortly after, he responded to criticism regarding responsibility for a potential government shutdown with: “We’re about as responsible for the shut down as you are Native American. https://t.co/8m5pcsKAhy”

Crenshaw has represented Texas’s 2nd congressional district since winning his first election in 2018 and has maintained significant margins of victory in subsequent elections, including defeating Peter Filler in 2024 with nearly two-thirds of the vote and securing wins over Robin Fulford in 2022, Sima Ladjevardian in 2020, and Todd Litton in 2018.
