Rep. Dan Crenshaw, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 2nd district since 2019, shared updates and commentary on recent legislative actions and other topics through his Twitter account in July 2025.

On July 18, Crenshaw announced the withdrawal of federal funding from public broadcasting organizations. He wrote, “And we finally cut the cord on taxpayer-funded media. — $1.1 billion rescinded from PBS and NPR — That includes $3 million for international puppet programming like Sesame Street in Iraq, but don’t worry. Elmo’s doing just fine. Netflix has already stepped up to save him and his”. This message referenced the decision to end government support for PBS and NPR, including specific allocations for international programming.

Later that day, Crenshaw posted another message: “Happy hunting https://t.co/ffcyz7hpvr” (July 18). The tweet did not elaborate further on its context.

On July 19, he commented with a brief statement: “60 years isn’t enough. https://t.co/kdcTnM8DJn”.

Crenshaw succeeded Ted Poe as representative of Texas’s 2nd district in 2019 and has held the seat since then. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1984, Crenshaw currently resides in Humble, Texas. He is an alumnus of Tufts University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006.
