U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) addressed the Senate Judiciary Committee during a hearing titled “Unfit to Serve: How the Biden Cover-Up Endangered America and Undermined the Constitution.” In his opening remarks, Cornyn expressed concerns about President Biden’s cognitive abilities and the alleged concealment of his condition.
“Last June, the American public saw with their own eyes what many knew to be true but would not dare to admit publicly – our sitting Commander-in-Chief was suffering from severe cognitive decline,” said Cornyn. He suggested that there was a conspiracy involving Biden’s family, staff, media, and elected officials to hide this information.
Cornyn emphasized the constitutional implications of such a cover-up. “This was a constitutional crisis bigger than President Biden, bigger than any single election,” he stated. He questioned who was in charge during the final months of Biden’s administration if not the President himself.
The senator referred to the 25th Amendment as a mechanism for addressing presidential incapacity. He criticized the Vice President and cabinet members for their inaction, saying, “Biden’s cabinet and the Vice President did not act in good faith.”
Cornyn stressed the importance of having contingency plans for emergencies like this one. He also noted that few Democratic colleagues attended the hearing, interpreting their absence as an “admission of guilt.”
“It is not an overstatement to say that the future of our country could one day hinge on how we choose to act or not act on this very issue,” Cornyn concluded.
