U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Lindsey Graham have called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to appoint a special counsel to investigate the Obama administration’s involvement in what they term the “Russia collusion hoax.” Both senators are senior members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In their statement, they said, “For the good of the country, we urge Attorney General Bondi to appoint a special counsel to investigate the extent to which former President Obama, his staff, and administration officials manipulated the U.S. national security apparatus for a political outcome.”

They emphasized that an independent special counsel would serve the country well in this case. They also noted that with each new piece of information released, it becomes clearer that the Russia collusion narrative was allegedly created by the Obama Administration.

The senators accused Democrats and liberal media of targeting President Trump since 2016 and called for an immediate investigation into what they believe is an unprecedented abuse of power by a presidential administration.

Last week, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released evidence suggesting that former President Barack Obama and his national security staff manipulated intelligence community information regarding Russian interference in favor of Donald Trump during the 2016 election.

The release included assessments from various intelligence agencies stating that Russia was not trying to influence the election through cyber means. It also detailed communications indicating attempts by Obama’s team to create a new assessment on Moscow’s actions following a meeting with top National Security Council Principals.

Obama officials reportedly leaked false statements to major media outlets claiming Russian interference in election outcomes through cyber means. A new Intelligence Community Assessment was subsequently released on January 6, 2017.
