Braylon Carr and Adam Hines achieved the best marks in their events for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) as the Texas Southern University men’s track and field team competed at the 44 Farms Invitational at Texas A&M, according to an April 12 announcement.
The results highlight strong performances by several athletes on the team. These achievements are significant because they set new benchmarks within SWAC competitions this season.
Anthony Momon-Lattimore ran a personal best of 21.24 seconds in the 200 meters, which is now ranked as the ninth-fastest time in SWAC. Michael Strange finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.01, while Manuel Garza placed eighth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:30.89—currently fifth-best in SWAC standings. Donyea Jarmon moved up to fifth place within SWAC for his event after clocking a time of 14.36 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, and David Livingston’s run of 10:13.84 in the steeplechase also put him among SWAC’s top five.
Adam Hines recorded an outdoor personal best by clearing a height of 15 feet, seven-and-three-quarter inches (15-7.75), making it both his highest outdoor vault and placing him first among all pole vaulters currently competing within SWAC this season. Braylon Carr’s triple jump measured at fifty feet, six-and-three-quarter inches (50-6.75), marking another outdoor personal best and earning him third place overall at this meet while ranking first among all triple jumpers so far this year within SWAC competitions.
Ahmad Muhammad followed closely behind Carr with a sixth-place finish after jumping exactly fifty feet—an outdoor personal record that now ranks second within SWAC rankings for triple jumpers.
Texas Southern University’s men’s track and field team will compete next weekend at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the University of Houston.
