Alyvia Brown won the women’s 5,000-meter race as the Texas Southern University women’s track and field team achieved ten top-10 finishes at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational this past weekend.

The team’s performance highlights individual achievements across multiple events. Car’De Moore placed sixth in the 100 meters, while Cesley Williams finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 55.43 seconds. Bayli George also competed in the 400 meters and secured eighth place after running a time of 56.65 seconds.

Brown’s winning time of 18:24.26 in the 5,000 meters now ranks her fourth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Kamara Bradey took ninth place in that event with a time of 20:35.99. In other results, Desirae Roberts finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.28.

In field events, Demaya Malone and Diamond Barrett both cleared heights of five feet one-and-a-quarter inches to finish sixth and seventh respectively in high jump competition. Kennedy Haynes threw forty feet one-and-a-quarter inches to earn tenth place in shot put, while Mikayla Ball recorded a personal best throw of one hundred fifty-two feet two inches for tenth place in hammer throw—moving her up to sixth overall among SWAC competitors.

The Texas Southern women’s track and field team is scheduled to compete next at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Baylor University’s campus this coming weekend.
