Texas Southern lost to Alcorn State 10–6 at Bobcat Park on April 11 after giving up a five-run lead in the later innings.

The result is significant for both teams, as Texas Southern had established an early advantage but could not maintain it against Alcorn State’s late surge.

Texas Southern took control in the third inning, scoring five runs. Christopher Chavez hit an RBI double, and the Tigers benefited from four bases-loaded walks. Miguel Morales, Elijah Rodriguez, and Nate Lopez each drove in a run during this stretch. Byron Robinson also scored on a throwing error as the team sent 11 batters to the plate.

Jonathan Trejo extended Texas Southern’s lead with a solo home run in the sixth inning. However, Alcorn State responded by scoring one run in the fifth, two more in the sixth, another in the seventh, and four runs in the eighth inning. Keatan Hawk delivered a two-run single that gave Alcorn State its first lead of the game. The Braves added another run when a batter was hit by a pitch with bases loaded.

In their final opportunity at bat, Texas Southern threatened with singles from Robinson and Morales but could not overcome Jacob Wingard of Alcorn State who secured the save.

Robinson finished with two hits including a triple and scored once. Chavez contributed with an RBI double and also scored. Morales reached base three times and had one RBI while Trejo led his team with his home run. Starting pitcher Joshua Prieto held Alcorn State hitless through four innings while striking out six batters before Kevin Braziel, Seve Medrano, and DeMarques Thompson appeared in relief.
