Private equity firm ZT Corporate's CEO Taseer Badar has joined the Crime Stoppers Houston board, a move that the organization hopes will help to forward its mission through Badar's personal passion for solution-oriented approaches.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner shared his congratulations on Twitter following Badar’s appointment to the board.

“@CrimeStopHOU selected a great individual to serve on their board,” Turner Tweeted. “Congrats @taseerbadar on your appointment. Thank you for working alongside all our partners to keep our city and our communities safe.”

Badar's position with Crime Stoppers is only part of his service and involvement in community organizations, as he is also a member of the Harris Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Development and Disability. Badar's interest in the Houston philanthropic community influenced his desire to be part of Crime Stoppers, according to a Crime Stoppers press release.

“Crime Stoppers of Houston is the top nonprofit in our city that is working tirelessly to protect lives and solve serious crime in our community, and I am honored to play a role in their mission to support the safety and well-being of those in the Houston area,” Badar said in the release.

His own experience with being attacked by three armed robbers in his own garage also impacted Badar’s desire to get involved, he said.

“Last month, I experienced the trauma of an attempted home invasion,” Badar said. "Although I am grateful to have been able to protect my family, I still feel a deep disappointment and frustration at the rising crime in the city I love and have called home for 40 years. This is why I have decided to dedicate my time to helping this wonderful organization prevent something like this from happening to other families and individuals."

ZT Corporate is a Houston-based private equity firm and was named the number-one ranked, largest Houston-area minority-owned business by the Houston Business Journal for 2021.
